I give it 5 for multiple reasons Clean Easy parking Friendly service Fresh And super yummy!! We tried 3 different Bun Mee and al super good! Tried the basil roll. Awesome different taste. It is not on the menu you just have to ask for it. Tried the mango sticky rice and it was really good. A lot of puréed mango. Wish we good try the sweet potato but they were out. Need to go back to try it

Like so many others I am a big fan of Oh Mai. So, like so many others, I wanted to check out the sister. I just have to say that if you could take to food of Oh Mai with the spacious insides and parking of Mai Bun Mee you'd have a marriage made in heaven. I thought the bun was fine here. I got the B6 The Cow. It was good but it was not as good as the stake sand at Oh Mai. Maybe it is not fair that I compare them. They are different sandwiches. So that being said: this sandwich is a tasty treat.

Lots of Vietnamese sandwich shops are popping up lately, save yourself some time, this one is the best in the downtown SLC area. The Holy Cow (B6) sandwich is a real treat. The Noodles (bun) are delicious and cooked just right. Service is friendly and fast and the prices are great.

If my moms chicken vermicelli wasnt horrible, i would have given 4 stars for my amazing pho and the cute decor. quiet, dead, and clean. the noodles in my moms dish were 100% over cooked and not edible.

Went here for my first time and I was not impressed. I heard some good things about this place and was in the area, so I thought I would try it out. Maybe I just went in on a bad day or something but after that experience, I don't think I will go back. First of all, it was a pain in the butt to park there so make sure you keep your eye out for the parking lot. My friend and I walked in and didn't really know what to get, my friend was hoping they would have the traditional bahn mi sandwich but they all had their own new-age twist I guess you could say. The service was MEH. I thought maybe the workers could suggest a sandwich or something but they just stared at us waiting for us to order. I finally decided to order when the "register"girl was taking orders to the patrons that were already there that told us that she would be with us in a sec while the two workers behind the make table just stood there (which I thought was kind of inconvenient) It seemed a lot longer than necessary until one of the other workers finally decided she would take our order. I ordered the "Oh La La" which is their lemon-grass pork sandwich with a pineapple Fanta. Since we went around 3:30 on a Tuesday, we were able to get the happy hour special which was half off bahn mi if you dine in. So my total came out to be about $5.something. My friend ordered a charbroiled pork sandwich separately and took our numbers and grabbed a table. My sandwich came out fairly fast so I began eating and I was almost done with half my sandwich (I am a VERY SLOW eater) and I'm sure a good 15 minutes or more passed by before my friend's sandwich came out. The server girl handed me the sandwich for some odd reason when I clearly had my own already and my friend had nothing in front of her. I basically had to put my sandwich down to grab it which was a little annoying. Overall, my sandwich was okay, nothing to boast about. My friend said her sandwich was good. I'd stick to Oh Mai for any of of my banh mi needs.

The food here is high quality and has an innovative and creative twist on Vietnamese favorites. Prices are unbelievably low. Don't miss the mango coconut dessert.

I am Vietnamese and from Southern California so I've had my fair share of experiences with good banh mi. Honestly, there aren't very many places in Utah that has good banh mi =X but this place is hands down, one of the best banh mi thit nuong I have tried EVER!! I had the holy cow banh mi. The sandwiches are on the pricier side but you get what you pay for bc the meat was tender and juicy. The bread was warm and crisp, not like the other banh mi that irritates the roof of my mouth. My sandwich also had grilled onions and grilled mushrooms in it! I would definitely come back..

Disappointed pho is not on the menu at this location. I know it's about the sandwich, but I enjoy visiting Oh Mai on a day like today. Went today for lunch and there was no curry or ramen noodles. Seem to still be working out the kinks.

I must admit I'm rather upset with how they decided to go about opening this restaurant. When I first heard Oh Mai was opening another location 2 miles closer to where I live and work I was ecstatic, I LOVE Oh Mai! Best Vietnamese sandwiches around and at a great price. So I went to Mai Bun Mee opening day only to find that they did not carry any of the same sandwiches that they have at their other location, that they charge double the price of their other location...and the sandwiches aren't nearly as good. I went opening day and was not happy with the sandwich I got, so I decided to give it another shot and went again only to be disappointed by the sandwiches yet again. Looks like I will have to continue traveling the additional 2 miles to get the sandwiches I like for half the price.

Had the noodle dishes tonight. The Curry Noodle (hot red style) is very spicy, but really tasty. I ordered it with the chicken, but would probably get pork or tofu next time. Also, had the Vermicelli Noodle with Pork which was also really tasty, but is more like a salad. The Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk is always delicious and sweet enough to be dessert. Overall, a great meal! The service is also wonderful. Always offering recommendations and very friendly.

Affordable and fast really fresh tasting flavorful food. My husband and I tried 2 different sandwiches as well as a vermicelli bowl and all were great. Very doable on a lunch break or what have you. My pork could have been a little less fatty but that would be my only con. I will absolutely come back.

This was a really nice find! Their sandwiches and phò are both really good (I got "the fisherman"), and the manager lady is very nice. Plus the staff is Vietnamese which adds to the authenticity. Great food!

MSG-that's all I have to say. If you have any aversion to it, don't eat here. If your ok with it, then enjoy your "vegetarian" pho

So happy to have Oh Mai's sister closer to home! Comparisons to the older sister are inevitable, but Mai Bun Mee easily stands on its own. My favorite, the sunnyside up egg bahn mi was delicious. Life is full of trade offs--Mai Bun Mee may charge a bit more, and no pho on the menu, but they have lots of parking in back, and lots of seating inside! Very classy interior!

This place is a spinoff of Oh Mai. Their sinner banh mi super delicious. It's a great spot for lunch. Though their prices were a tad higher than Oh Mai, their location and amount of siracha bottles made it worth it. Definitely worth a try!!

The food here is simple and good value. They make great bun mee sandwiches and have noodle and rice bowls as well as pho. Check the hours before you go as they close reasonably early. I was there for a quick bite about 40 minutes before closing on a weekday and they have already packed up most of the chairs and someone was washing the floors around us which didn't make for a relaxing meal.

Loved it!! Im so glad the owners of Oh Mai expanded on their sandwich side of things. Their menu is great!! Lots of options, with the same yummy taste of all their signature meats and veggies. The place is very spacious, and so pretty. They must have taken down a really funky forest to get all the cool wood for their seats and tables, but it makes it look cool. I loved sitting right on the front kinda bar, watching people walk by on state st. This is a great addition to that area. My favorite so far is the the beef and the pork ones. Quick and nice service too. And the best part, way affordable, and they have lots of parking in the back.

Really love Oh Mai so I thought i'd stop into this cute lil' place for lunch with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised that see that they had even more vegan options that the Oh Mai locations. I got a braised tofu noodle bowl which was really awesome, i love the spicy and savory, hot and cold, sweet and pickled flavor contrasts in the dish that make it surprising and delightful to eat. I put a little pit of the chili oil ( A LITTLE BECAUSE THIS STUFF IS FIRE, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED) to up the spice and add some flavor and it was awesome! My boyfriend got some sandwich (forgot which one) that was good, but not as good as the vegan sandwiches at oh mai. We also tried the jackfruit salad which was kind of like a vietnamese cole-slaw, it was a great accompainament to my noodle bowl, but was rather sweet by itself. Still really good. The owner had just gotten there when we ordered and came out to make sure that everything was good, the service was exceptional and the decor is adorable. It's very clean, very simple but the small details in the lighting and ceiling really make the stand out and give it a very zen ambiance. We will be back!

This is a new poppin' off spot right off state street that's owned by the same folks that run O' Mai. One of the first things that attracted me to this place was the price as well as the fact they offer vegan options. I tried the B2 which was a turmeric spiced tofu sandwich with lemongrass. I must say the texture of the tofu was on point and even went back the next day. I ordered a cup of rice for just one dollar so there was no pressure to spend a lot of money to make sure I was well full.

I love Oh Mai, and was so excited to try this new sister location. However, I am disappointed by what I found. Although Mai Bun Mee has a larger sandwich selection, it is definitely a fusion restaurant catering to the downtown yuppies and hipsters, and their bland taste buds. The new sandwiches lack the depth of flavor that the original sandwiches have. Sadly, the sandwiches are mediocre, at best. The prices of the sandwiches are higher, but it is what I expected given the closer to downtown location. I do hate the look and feel of the restaurant. It screams wannabe California chain restaurants. But this will appeal to Utahans, since they do love their California chain restaurants. Finally, there is NO PHO, so don't go looking for it here.

Delicious and inexpensive healthy meal. My husband had the steak sandwich with juicy sweet and tender beef. I had the tilapia filet sandwich which was amazing. All the sandwiches have some array of chopped veggies, marinated relishes and sweet or tangy sauces., which pair perfectly with the protein ingredient. Each of the many sandwiches is perfectly balanced for sweet, spicy and delicious bites. The baguettes are both crisp and soft, possibly the best sandwich bread we've ever had. We also shared the signature chicken pho which was full of flavor, packed with chicken, and not one bit oily like so many phos we've had at other places. All menu items are $6-7, an incredibly good value. And they have a happy hour 3-5 with 50% off sandwiches, dine-in only and limit 2 per person, which is perfect for my high school and college kids!

PRO'S: fist things first - i go to here for two reasons: fantastic taste, and crazy inexpensive. my fave sandwich is Mai Sunshine (egg and bacon). my current favorite item on the menu is the vermicelli noodle bowl with turmeric tofu. aye yai yai. so good. i also like that the food is healthy - and that Anna (owner) tries really hard to make it so. also nice - Anna - she's always friendly. CON'S: unless you show up when the place is packed - atmosphere is pretty stale. i sometimes wish they had chosen a different location. that said - it super convenient to get to. EXTRA INFO: i have been a fan of Oh Mai since it opened - and when i learned that they were opening another location downtown (closer to home) - i was happy to be one of the first customers. Anna (owner) designed both the menu for Oh Mai as well as MBM specifically to give customers a separate, unique experience at each restaurant. i've had pretty much everything on the menu - with few complaints.

I have been curious about this place since its opening and I finally had the opportunity to try this spin-off of Oh Mai's Sandwiches last week. The interior has been greatly updated since its days under the guise of Bangkok Thai with the addition of modern furniture and decorations. It was spacious without feeling empty. My party of three arrived around 1.30 and there were two other small groups in the restaurant. The menu was intriguing with modern updates to traditional Vietnamese sandwiches. I wanted something lighter, so I ordered a vermicelli bowl with the five-spiced chicken. My friends ordered the Five-Spiced sandwich and the Sinner sandwich. My order was ready before my credit card was even done processing, while the sandwiches took maybe five minutes to be ready. The owner was our friendly cashier and chatted with us about how we came upon her restaurant. My noodle bowl was exactly what I wanted: reminiscent of a home-cooked meal. There was a fair ratio of meat to noodle to vegetables. The chicken was well seasoned and well cooked. The sauce was a bit sweeter than my preference but the small kick of heat leveled it out. I only wished that the pickled carrots and daikons were sourer; they were very mild, which indicates short pickling time. My friends almost inhaled their sandwiches. The pork belly in the Sinner sandwich was well cooked and not chewy, although the juices made it a bit messy to consume. The chili aioli of the Five-Spiced sandwich added the perfect amount of kick and tang. All meals were served to be easily converted for carry-out. The restaurant allows the owner to experiment with traditional sandwiches and I'm a fan. The banh mis still maintain the traditional integrity of the sandwich with the crunchy baguette and pickled vegetables; however, there are twists in protein selection and sauce components. There were many choices that were tempting and I will be back during happy hour to try more of the menu.

Husband and I really love banh mi...really, really love it. So we went out of our way to go try this restaurant during our recent visit to SLC. We left completely underwhelmed. Of course, our expectations were high, and had we both just stuck with The Sinner, this might be a better review. But we decided to try a few different things, so we got an OoLaLa to go along with our Sinner, as well as a bowl of the Meatball Soup. Kid ordered the Five-Spice Chicken kids' bowl. The Sinner was fantastic. A truly great sandwich, and I wish I had ordered four of those. Because the OoLaLa was the opposite...sickeningly sweet and awful. The Meatball Soup took a long time to come out--after we were done with our sandwiches--and it really wasn't worth waiting for. It was one of those dishes that smelled better than it tasted. That said, this might still be a four-star review if not for the Kid's Bowl. Kid is not a picky eater by any stretch, so when she would not eat the chicken I knew something must be off. One bite and I immediately understood...the chicken was not just seasoned with five-spice but smothered in it. The flavors were way to potent for a kids' meal. Frankly, I didn't even like it. That dish didn't get eaten. Overall, the service was indifferent, the food was unspectacular, but that one sandwich was to die for. If I lived nearby I might be ordering one thing off the takeout menu quite often.

Maybe you need a sandwich and you need it fast! Come here for your quick Vietnamese fix right on State Street. Prices are reasonable. Of course I ordered the Sinner, which is a pork belly sandwich ($5.80). I love the bread they use (it would be perfect for a cheese steak BTW). So crispy on the outside and hollowed out in the middle for the perfect bread to filling ratio. Plenty of Sriracha to spice it up as you like. My companion got the lemongrass pork vermicelli bowl ($7.48). It was very large and filling and the pork was seasoned and delicious. I had to get the mango coconut sticky rice to go for desert later. It was not too sweet and tasty treat for later. The layout of the new restaurant is a bit cold, loud and soulless. You must follow the signs, get in line to look at the board, and then move down to order. Food is brought out to your table lightening quick. A sign said they would be offering chicken Pho for dinner later in the month. They do have other soups on the menu though. They even offer a kids meal, which is nice.

I was told that this was part of the Oh Mai restaurant chain and yet this place had a different name too as the Hot Banh in West Valley. The food didn't disappoint, they had a nice variety of banh mi sandwiches all sounded so awesome. I was only hungry enough for 2 and had to take some of it home for leftovers. The bread was perfect just like Oh Mai, hard on the outside chewy and soft in the middle. The vast array of veggies and meat was an excellent combination. Can't wait to go back and try other sandwiches.

Just outstanding. Anybody who is a fan of Oh Mai would expect nothing less, but what I've tasted thus far has become instant classics along with my regular rotation at the Holladay store. The sandwich that sticks out for me is The Fisherman. Moist, perfectly spiced tilapia with the familiar Oh Mai flavors. Think that chili-lime fish vinaigrette makes your pork taste great? Wait until you've had it with fish. No pickled veggies here, but a nice slaw and some mango instead. Pretty much perfect. I'm going back for dinner tonight. There's copious parking behind the building. Follow the signs and enter a past the building to the south.

  • Josh W.

Get that Basil Roll. It will change your life! Tofu haters step to the side because the turmeric tofu is a blast of flavor and texture. The brown rice bowl is v tasty and the only thing missing are those pickled carrots you get with other dishes here. Ask to add those for another layer of goodness.

Came here after work to grab some food. I walked in and read the menu on the wall. Didn't have any traditional Vietnamese sandwiches. I wanted the dac biet but had to settle for the xa xiu (B10). Went home and ate it and boy was I disappointed. The pork was extremely sweet. I couldn't finish my sandwich. The baguette was nice and flaky. I'll give them two stars for that.

This is a great spot for some creative Banh mi sandwiches. They put their own twist into traditional dishes and the flavors are awesome. My favorite was the Sinner which was filled with deliciously braised pork belly. I loved the bread and the ratio of all the ingredients was perfect. The Thai tea was too sweet for my liking, but I did enjoy the iced coffee with condensed milk.

    (4)
  • Mani S.

Had their vermacelli noodles with lemongrass pork. Perfect for a hot summer day! My daughter had their pho (only comes in chicken). I tasted the broth, and it seemed too salty to me. Their thai tea is made to perfection, and that splash of half and half blended it perfectly.

  • Drew M.

First time here. I had the sunshine which has sunnyside up eggs and bacon. My friend's tried the shredder and the sinner. All 3 were amazingly delicious! Also, the chicken meatball soup, wow!!! Although I asked for the jalapeños to being omitted, an easy mistake and they rushed to the table to see if I wanted it remade as they noticed the mistake. I just pulled it off. I appreciate the customer service here that you don't see too much in Salt Lake City. Definitely returning to try more.

"The Charred" by far is the best balance of various simple ingredients mingling on a toasted roll to create something refreshing, savory, and filling in such a totable package. Everything on the menu sound and looks light and delicious, I am going to be a regular. P.S. The Thai iced is the perfect compliment. Trust and believe. More coming soon.

I got the D3: ramen noodles with chili lemon grass pork and it was quite good. The prices are very reasonable. Also make sure to get the mango sticky rice parfait. It's not really a parfait but almost more of a pudding. But it's really, really good. I will definitely come back here and try the sandwiches or rice bowl.

  • Ayley J.

Can't comment on the sandwiches but I had a rice bowl with pork & it was soooo good. Make sure to get a Thai iced tea with your meal! It's one of the better ones I've had.

I had kind of a weird experience here on my first visit, but I expect I'll be updating to improve this soon. My husband and I stopped by here one day for lunch, excited to have something under the Oh Mai umbrella closer to us. I went with the roasted pork soup and my husband got the B10 sandwich (pork with Asian BBQ sauce). I wanted iced tea to drink but was told they only had the Thai iced tea in stock that day. Bummer. Drinks are only in bottles and cans. They'd benefit from a soda fountain here. The sandwich came out quickly, but after another 10-15 minutes we went back to the counter to check on the soup. It had somehow gotten lost in the shuffle. They apologized profusely, gave us two of the coconut/mango sticky rice desserts (delicious!), and got the soup ready as quickly as they could. When it arrived, the soup was very good, kind of like a wonton soup without wontons. My husband was a bit underwhelmed by his sandwich as it was a bit sweeter than he was expecting. However, some added sriracha helped that out quite a bit. I expect he probably just ordered the wrong thing. I expect we'll be back soon to try a few more things, hopefully with better results.

It isn't the same as oh Mai but it's like apples and oranges -- each is awesome in its own way. Mai Bun Mee is delicious! It just depends what you're craving! I love the rainbow salad and vegan sandwiches. also: THE MANGO PARFAIT IS SO BOMB. GET IT. my sis is way into the vermicelli noodles. my husband likes the braised pork.

Sandwiches are as good as Oh Mai, and since those are amazing these are amazing. Glad to see an Oh Mai spin off. Had the pork belly "sinner" sandwich and it is one of the most uniquely delicious sandwiches I've ever had. They have a happy hour from 3-5 for half off sammies! Will be back soon. Sooooo good.

Probably one of the worst Banh Mi places in the U.S. that I've tried. No pate!? That's just wrong!! Wrong!!!!

  • Lisa B.

We are all fans of Oh Mai, so when a sister restaurant opened closer to town, we had to check it out. It's important to know that the menu is not the same. There's no pho, but the soups they serve are very tasty. My favorite, the salad with rice noodles and lemongrass tofu, isn't there, but the version they have is equally tasty. My daughter loves the banh mi sandwiches and my college-age son was very impressed with the ramen bowl (it's not soup) with succulent pork and veggies. There's a parking lot in the back, and if you go between 3:00 and 5:00 pm weekdays there is a two-for one "eat in only" banh mi sandwich special.

  • Kyle K.

The comparisons with Oh Mai are inevitable-- Bahn Mis, soups (though not Pho), and a clever name and tagline. My party spent what seemed like hours staring at the menu, because many of our favorites (the standard cold cut bahn mi, the egg bahn mi) weren't there, or were just slightly modified. The sandwiches were almost Oh Mai caliber-- awesome crusty bread, lovely fresh veggie toppings. My "hot chicks" was tasty, but the chicken meatballs weren't particularly spicy (more BBQ-like) and just didn't seem to be the right protein for the usual bahn mi toppings. My dining companion devoured his braised pork belly sandwich. I've yet to try the soups or noodles, which sound quite nice. It's really a different sandwich experience, with the hipper ambiance and less traditional menu. While I'd love an Oh Mai that's just closer to my house, and this is not it, it's still a worthwhile sandwich journey.

This place is awesome. Some of the best bahn mi sandwiches in SLC. I generally get the shredder. Also on week days from 3PM-5PM all sandwiches are half off.

I love local businesses. I love it even more when they have great food. Today, my-coworker and I were trying to decide where to go to lunch, and he mentioned he wanted some Bahn Mi. My previous experience of Bahn Mi was limited to what the Cafe Trang mobile lunch cart offers. Boy was I in for a surprise. First of all: This is a huge sandwich. None of the pictures do it justice. We got a B5 (Sinner) and a B4 (Fisherman) Both of which were piled high with cucumbers, cilantro, carrot, and soy sprouts. The meat (Pork Belly on mine) was cooked perfectly, with some spice to remember it by. The tilapia on the fisherman was cooked just as perfect and was flaky and had a unique flavor (not in a bad way - in a spicy way) The bread was just crusty enough to give me a hearty chew, but the crunchyness of the baguette was perfect so I could enjoy the flavor party that was occurring in my mouth. It was slow when I went in so within about 7 minutes I had my two sandwiches and was on my way. So I recommend it. It is a nice downtown location, with parking in the back (just look for the sign) You can't go wrong.

Dare I say that this place even better than Oh Mai? Yes I do! The menu is like nothing I've seen anywhere else. I love the rice & noodle bowls as well as the sandwiches. They staff are extremely friendly too! I'm already a regular.

  • Houston D.

Do not be confused: There may be some kind of linkage between this place and Oh Mai but the sandwiches are not the same. Oh Mai is unstoppable with some of the best banh mi there is. This place, however, serves totally standard banh mi. Not bad but not worth it. The vegan banh mi doesn't even appear on the far more limited menu at this place. The decor is done like they expect the place to register some serious buzz. I'm rooting for them but I will not be returning. For SLC's best banh mi head further down State St. and go to Oh Mai. Enough said.

Fan-dam-fucking tastic. 9 out of 10 people would visit again, the tenth stayed for life! FOR MY VEGANS: the soup listed on the menu that is vegan, it is amazing. It is a bowl of slightly spicy, mysteriously comforting heaven. Vermicelli or bun mi- you know everything gonna be great because it's got that oh Mai sister standard. Far better design, almost like living in a pinterest board for a cozy restaurant. Lots of space, unlike oh Mai. No shade! Visit. Immediately. You won't need to bring a lot of money, since you know they got that fair price for a fair food.

Really good! I love Oh Mai and was excited to hear they were opening another store. Try their ramen noodles with the 5-spiced chicken....delicious. Huge restaurant with lots of seating. One suggestion: don't play top 40 hits on the speakers! It takes away from the dining experience

Their pork sandwiches are better than their steak and while different than your typical American style sandwich, I've been told it isn't authentic Vietnamese. Plenty of parking in the back as space is limited on State Street.

  • Mai H.

Love this place, especially during the "happy hour" (3-5pm) when banh mi sandwiches are 50% off. I had the sinner and the basil spring roll and both were awesome! I highly recommend both. The spring roll was a bit sloppy looking but for what it lacked in looks, it made up for in flavor! So good! The sandwiches are so filling, I'm still full and I ate my sandwich 5 hours ago!

Just went here with the wife. We are huge fans of Oh Mai. We frequent both locations of Oh Mai on a weekly basis. That being said, we thought that this establishment was just another Oh Mai location, and since it's closer we thought we'd try it out. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The decor was modern yet cozy. Not like the Oh Mai restaurant that literally feels like you're eating at your mamma's kitchen. The menu had a larger variety of sandwiches with familiar ingredients to Oh Mai. It appears they added a contemporary twist to traditional Vietnamese sandwiches. We ordered the "Holy Cow" sandwich with ingredients such as garlic aioli, sauteed mushrooms and onions, and fresh marinated vegetables. The texture was like Oh Mai's sandwiches, but the mixture of flavors was new and unforgettable. We had also ordered the Ramen with 4 seasoned chicken. This dish was quite delectable. This was not a soup Ramen that you would find in a Japanese Ramen house, it was more like a dry Vietnamese Noodle bowl with zesty lemon pepper sauce. It contained a mixture of fresh vegetables and plenty of flavor. The noodles are not traditional Japanese ramen. I was contended with the noodles they had put in the bowl. This noodle bowl is great for someone that is looking for something light, healthy, and delicious, and yet the portion is considerable for the price, and I would definitely order it again. We also had a chance to sample their rainbow salad which was incredibly colorful. I'm going off memory here, but I think it contained cabbage, papaya, carrots, sesame, and some other wholesome goodness. It was in a flavorful zesty vinaigrette. The different types of vegetables used in the salad scream nutrients, vitamins, and healthiness to the body. Good combo for someone like me. Not to say anything negative about other Asian sandwich places on 7th east and 4th south, but this place knows how to pack a delicious sandwich that doesn't charge 7-8 dollars. It's affordable, healthy, fresh, and savory.

More sandwich selection than the other oh Mai, and the sandwiches were always my favorite so this place is great. Also, much more seating, so no stress trying to find a table.

This place is good but unfairly cast in the shadow of Oh Mai. There are definitely a greater variety of options than at Oh Mai (including fish!) but it still doesn't compare to the original. For one thing, the prices here seem a bit more expensive. Maybe I've just been ordering stuff that is cheaper but there was a noticable $2-$3 difference in sandwich price. They were also out of some items (understandable given the newness of the business) and the restaurant itself was cold. The shredded chicken was good, I loved the pepper they put in the sandwich. The fish sandwich is probably (I'll have to eat here again to truly know) the best thing they have on the menu and was flavorful. I appreciate the location, but I'd say it's the dorky little brother of the suave, handsome chap up the street. I'll be back and may adjust my rating upon further reflection.

I am currently curshing on banh mi hard. This place is Oh Mai's sister restaurant, although they focus on sandwiches. They have other menu items, but definitely a majority of their menu are banh mi sandwiches. No complaints here. It was hard to pick one sandwich! So you better believe I'll be going back again soon.

After hearing about this place after going to Oh Mai (sister restaurant) my boyfriend and myself came in to try it out on a week night for a quick light bite. Service was friendly and were more than willing to answer questions or offer suggestions. Our food was made really quickly.. Could have been because it was fairly empty or because well, it is just a sandwich. Either way we weren't complaining! I got B1 which is a braised soy protein based sandwich. Not my favorite. I found it to be overall really sweet and could not taste any spice from the few jalapeño slices on it. Also there was no soy sauce at their condiment station to cut the sweetness. Really strange in my opinion to have all other asian condiments but soy sauce which may be the most popular. My boyfriend ordered B6 which has tenderloin as its main source of protein. He loved it, not a scrap left by the end and I instantly regretted not asking for that bite earlier! All said and done I think I just chose the wrong sandwich and I'm sure if I went up to ask for soy sauce they would have been glad to give it to me. Will be back to try more!

Found this on yelp and thought we would try and we were not disappointed!!! Steak and pork sandwiches were amazing and so fresh tasting!! This is a must try place to eat. Thanks for a great experience!!!

So happy to have this sandwich shop close. Although you can't go wrong with the amazing bun mi, my favorite dish is the ramen with tumeric tofu. It makes my taste buds do a happy dance. I have taken almost every member of my family here, and we all love it. Friendly staff. Nice, clean, open atmosphere too.

I'm very happy to have a little place like this in the hood. We need more quick and clean Asian eateries with lots of veggie options. I really like everything I've tried there, the noodles may be a little too soft but that's better than too hard and the flavors are great. I really like how they season the tofu and the soy protein. The curry bowls are really flavorful and filling and have lots of yummy stuff in them. I like the red spicy curry. I still have to try the bánh mì but will do so someday when I am craving bread instead of rice or rice noodles. The mango parfait is definitely not to be missed if you have a craving for something sweet and tropical!

As this was for me a MUCH anticipated restaurant opening. I was EXTREMELY let down. Being a long time patron of Oh Mai on 3400ish south state, I was expecting the same sort of pricing / food as Oh Mai. The prices are on average 2-3$ more for everything. Half of the food is quite excellent, where as the other half of it is not at all. I've now tried most of the menu (I live like 2 blocks from here) and I would say the s3, s7, and s9, were my favorites. The egg sandwich is actually excellent as well (not as good as Oh Mais), but is 2$ more.. I felt like anything "chicken meat ball" related was sort of bland, and their soups were small and nothing special. . Very disappointing that they do not offer Pho. I suppose had I never been to Oh Mai, I would have given this restaurant a 4 star, compared to Oh Mai, it is a 2 star .. so I settled with 3. Save your money, go to the sister store - Oh Mai.

I had the pork belly banh mi months ago and man was it tough just wrong for pork belly. It was like a great flavored jerky sandwich. So the flavor was there, the bread was solid but a big gelatinous chunk of hard fat and jerky meat is not appetizing! LMK if that sand has improved otherwise avoid that option! But I have heard good things so maybe folks are not offering the pork belly?

The Oh Mai spin off is almost as good at the original. Excellent Bahn Mi. However, not as much selection as the flagship stores. The mango-sticky rice parfet was a nice surprise. The location is great and easy to get parking and a seat--which is an improvement over the South Salt Lake location.

These guys are in the same family as the oh Mai restaurants so you know the service will be prompt, friendly, and the food will be fresh and creative. The sandwiches are a little more on the creative side (meaning a little less "traditional") but still as delicious! I had the pork belly bahn mi and it was really nice. the pork was tender and moist which is something to be said, since it was a thicker cut than i've had in other sandwiches. usually the pork belly is undercooked, overcooked, or unflavored. This was real nice and with the veggie fixings you typically get with the Oh Mai sandwiches, it was a great find. My kids had the Vietnamese chicken meatball and noodle soup and they loved it! Keep in my my kids are usually more adventurous than other kids, but even our 5 year old's friend, who is more picky, liked it. I especially loved it and ate half my kids' soup. Over all great meal!

Me and my wife went here because we really like oh Mia. The really sweet lady that I can only assume was the owner or gm didn't want to assume that they are better than oh Mia but I tell you the buns that the sandwiches come on is a lot better, so much so that it makes those sandwiches awesome! We had the oo la la and the sinner they were so good it's ridiculous. The owner was so cool and wanted to know if we would change anything. The differences are what made them better I wouldn't change a thing! I am really exited to try the new sandwich that has a sunny side up egg on it. It will be on the menu in a week so see you then! Loved this place

Got the fisherman sandwich and it was delicious ! I would recommend . The interior is nice and the staff friendly though overall service was a bit slow especially considering how empty the restaurant was.

I'll be back here again more for the convenience of location. I love Oh Mai and never had a bag meal there. At this place, the sandwich I got had very sweet sauce like they need to half the amount of sugar they are using. The bread also seemed a little different than the bread at Oh Mai, which was strange because I thought they had the same owner or some kind of connection. It wasn't horrible though I'll have to experiment with the menu a little more.

This was my second time here and I was truly disappointed. The bread was so hard, it fell off. It felt like eating old bread. I had the fisherman and my husband had the five spice chicken. The chicken was a bit salty and the bread was hard. Thank god for the taro parfait. It saved the meal. Although mango parfait is much better. I will give them another try because I had such a good experience the first time.

Get that Basil Roll. It will change your life! Tofu haters step to the side because the turmeric tofu is a blast of flavor and texture. The brown rice bowl is v tasty and the only thing missing are those pickled carrots you get with other dishes here. Ask to add those for another layer of goodness.

Can't comment on the sandwiches but I had a rice bowl with pork & it was soooo good. Make sure to get a Thai iced tea with your meal! It's one of the better ones I've had.

Had their vermacelli noodles with lemongrass pork. Perfect for a hot summer day! My daughter had their pho (only comes in chicken). I tasted the broth, and it seemed too salty to me. Their thai tea is made to perfection, and that splash of half and half blended it perfectly.

Good food, fast service, and convenient location in downtown! Parking is a little bit confusing when we first visited, but they do have parking in the back of the building.

Their pork sandwiches are better than their steak and while different than your typical American style sandwich, I've been told it isn't authentic Vietnamese. Plenty of parking in the back as space is limited on State Street.

So happy to have this sandwich shop close. Although you can't go wrong with the amazing bun mi, my favorite dish is the ramen with tumeric tofu. It makes my taste buds do a happy dance.

  • Don G.

Got the fisherman sandwich and it was delicious ! I would recommend . The interior is nice and the staff friendly though overall service was a bit slow especially considering how empty the restaurant was.

Had their vermacelli noodles with lemongrass pork. Perfect for a hot summer day! My daughter had their pho (only comes in chicken). I tasted the broth, and it seemed too salty to me. Their thai tea is made to perfection, and that splash of half and half blended it perfectly.

This is an awesome sister restaurant to oh mai! I freaking love it! The staff is awesome! The restaurant has tons of space! It's great! I recommend it highly!

Really good! I love Oh Mai and was excited to hear they were opening another store. Try their ramen noodles with the 5-spiced chicken....delicious. Huge restaurant with lots of seating. One suggestion: don't play top 40 hits on the speakers! It takes away from the dining experience

Their pork sandwiches are better than their steak and while different than your typical American style sandwich, I've been told it isn't authentic Vietnamese. Plenty of parking in the back as space is limited on State Street.

  • Kylee W.

  • Nigel L.

  • Sarah S.

  • Julee A.

Disappointed pho is not on the menu at this location. I know it's about the sandwich, but I enjoy visiting Oh Mai on a day like today. Went today for lunch and there was no curry or ramen noodles. Seem to still be working out the kinks.

I have been here a handful of times and each time it gets better and better. Get the B.5 sandwich and thank me later. Their bread is so fresh and really makes the sandwich.

If my moms chicken vermicelli wasnt horrible, i would have given 4 stars for my amazing pho and the cute decor. quiet, dead, and clean. the noodles in my moms dish were 100% over cooked and not edible.
